Any work carried out on port land generally requires an induction and/or permits to be completed prior to the start of work. This includes new development, extension of existing facilities and maintenance work.   

If any of the work involves a change of land use, then we may require the assessment of a development proposal against the Codes in the Brisbane Port Land Use Plan 2020 and Port of Brisbane Technical Standard 2020.

All contractors working for, or on behalf of, the Port of Brisbane Pty Ltd (PBPL) are required to undertake Safety Online once a year to ensure that they remain safe while working at the port and that their actions cause minimal impact on the environment.

All contractors working for, or on behalf of, the Port of Brisbane Pty Ltd (PBPL) and are entering a Hazardous Area are required to undertake the Hazardous Area Induction once a year to ensure that they remain safe while working in the Port North Common User Berth Hazardous Area and the Pinkenba Common User Facility Hazardous Area.

HOW TO OBTAIN A PERMIT TO WORK FROM PBPL

General Contractors and employees of PBPL require a Permit to Work every time a 'specified high risk task' is performed at the Port in accordance with the following procedures: 
 
To find out if the work you are completing requires a permit, please answer seven quick questions by clicking on the Permit to Work Questionnaire. 

If a Permit to Work is required, you must provide the following forms:

Permit to Work Form (a form to obtain PBPL authorisation to perform a 'specified high risk task'). All General Contractors performing works for PBPL must supply a current Site Specific Risk Assessment and/or Safe Work Method and relevant Control Forms from the list below (key safety requirements for each permit).

Please present the required documents to a PBPL Authorised Person before starting work. 

DOCUMENTATION / RECORDING OF INFRASTRUCTURE

Where works involve new or changes to existing infrastructure, services and/or buildings clear records of such works must be provided to PBPL.  

To ensure optimal accuracy and consistency of records, PBPL require all electronic and hard-copy drawing and specification sets for works including but not limited to demolition, services/infrastructure/building modifications, civil works, new construction to accord with PBPL’s:
