TC Aldred update - Saturday 8 March 2025, 1400hrs

Port Stakeholders

Following landfall of TC Alfred overnight, we are pleased to advise that there are currently no reports of serious storm damage or severe weather impacts on port infrastructure.

However, despite the immediate threat of the cyclone passing, port operations remain susceptible to significant volumes of water moving downstream from the upper Brisbane catchment into the mouth of the river (inner bar area).

At this point in time, there are no changes to the port’s operational posture. The Regional Harbour Master’s restrictions on the shipping channel remain in place.

Port of Brisbane’s Marine and Operations Teams are working closely with Maritime Safety Queensland to understand the risks over the days ahead and consider how they could impact the port. While safety remains paramount, all possible efforts are going towards getting the port back up and running when its appropriate to do so.

MSQ also continues to work closely with Port of Brisbane and the cruise lines on scheduled cruise calls to ensure the safety of cruise passengers. Any changes to those calls will be communicated to passengers by the cruise lines.

The entire Port of Brisbane team fervently hopes all port stakeholders are safe and well.

SAFETY REMINDER: with the region expected to receive very large volumes of rainfall over the coming days, we implore all port stakeholders to stay off the road if possible. If vehicle movements are required, please use extra caution over the days ahead. Drive to the conditions and reduce speed.

Kind regards
PBPL Team
