Vision 2060. Shaping the future of trade, sustainability and innovation.

Vision 2060 is the Port of Brisbane’s bold new vision for the future of trade, sustainability and innovation.

As our region looks ambitiously to the future, the Port of Brisbane will continue to play a critical role in driving economic prosperity for Queensland and supporting the growth our region is set to experience.

Vision 2060 is a roadmap to help PBPL and our customers plan for the future, supporting our long-term strategy to become Australia’s premier port and logistics hub — here for the future.

Where horizons meet

Underpinned by research and co-created with industry, government and community partners, Vision 2060 outlines how we’ll lead transformation through three key horizons:

Seamless connectivity

Integrated, end-to-end connectivity will be critical to achieving future sustainability goals, improving productivity and strengthening regional links to support Queensland’s population growth and rising freight demand.

Connecting the Port seamlessly to the region will require dedicated road and rail networks, while connecting to the world means welcoming larger vessels through an upgraded shipping channel.

We will work towards bridging physical and digital networks to drive supply chain efficiency – supporting low-emission freight movement, integration with national transport systems, and positioning Brisbane International Cruise Terminal as a world-class tourism gateway.

Central to this will be digital systems and data collaboration which will enable port-wide coordination, real-time visibility and more responsive, data-driven decision-making across the logistics ecosystem.

  • Advanced freight infrastructure
  • Network integration
  • Green freight corridors
  • World-class tourism gateway
  • Predictive digital ecosystem
  • Real-time tracking
  • Blockchain
  • AI
  • IOT

Clean energy transformation

Transitioning to a low-emissions future is key to ensuring the long-term success, resilience and vitality of both the Port and the communities it supports.

Working with our customers and the supply chain, we will support the shift to a low-emissions supply chain, facilitating a sustainable future by enabling a secure, reliable and low-carbon energy ecosystem.

This includes decarbonising port operations, supporting our customers’ sustainability goals and facilitating initiatives such as vehicle electrification and green shipping infrastructure.

To support the massive increase in energy demand forecast, significant new renewable energy infrastructure will be required, supported by battery storage, powering embedded networks across port precincts.

  • Vehicle electrification
  • Scaled renewable energy systems
  • Green shipping infrastructure
  • energy security
  • Strategic R&D

Designed for future generations

An integrated approach will ensure Port of Brisbane remains not only a vital logistics gateway but a source of shared value, resilience and leadership in an evolving global landscape.

Initiatives focused on natural ecosystems and biodiversity protection, along with enhancing innovation, will position us to lead the way toward a resilient, inclusive and sustainable future.

By fostering strong connections with local communities and supporting a skilled, future-ready workforce, we aim to balance economic prosperity with environmental stewardship and social inclusion, securing a dynamic and inclusive future for generations to come.

A LIVING ROADMAP FOR THE FUTURE

Whilst Vision 2060 is based on the most current research and best practices of today, it is not static nor fixed and is designed to be updated over time as new developments, research and changes come into view. In the same sense, it should not be taken as a precise ‘plan’ or set of actions. Nor does it represent any financial or non-financial commitments from PBPL or replace our existing Masterplan process. Instead, it is designed to provoke ideas and dialogue that will be essential to ensuring future preparedness.
