Port of Brisbane releases 2023/24 Sustainability Report

Port of Brisbane has today released its 2023/24 Sustainability Report, detailing progress achieved during the year against our ambitious 2030 Sustainability Program.

PBPL CEO, Neil Stephens, said PBPL had continued to deliver against its Sustainability Program with leading initiatives and projects that are delivering value for PBPL, its customers and the community.

“Sustainability is at the centre of how we are growing and developing the Port of Brisbane for Queensland,” said Mr Stephens.

“This year, we achieved significant sustainability goals including Net Zero Emissions (scope 1 and 2) – well ahead of our 2030 timeline – and Advanced Workplace Recognition by Mental Health First Aid Australia.

“Overall, 2023/24 was a solid year for the Port of Brisbane with a strong trade performance, including a record year for containers, motor vehicles and cotton exports. We also continued to experience sustained demand for property, delivering 4 property developments (new and expanded customer facilities).

Combined, these are facilitating strong economic and trade growth for Queensland.

“Our community partnerships program supported 36 community partners with over $377,000 in funding and we proudly commenced our ‘Innovate’ Reconciliation Action Plan during the year.

“While we’re pursuing many exciting initiatives, much of this work is undertaken in collaboration with our customers and partners, who share our commitment to delivering long-term, sustainable outcomes for the port and the community.

“All of this great work is ultimately driven by our PBPL team, and I thank them for their extraordinary work and commitment through the year.

“While we’re proud of our achievements, we know there is plenty more work to be done. We are optimistic about our shared future and look forward to the next 12 months as we strive to be a sustainability leader in the ports industry.”
