Port of Brisbane raises record funds for MND and Me Foundation

Each year, PBPL employees nominate and support a charity close to their hearts. MND and Me Foundation is a Queensland-based organisation dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

The impressive total was achieved through grassroots fundraising initiatives including Containers for Change, scrap metal recycling, chocolate sales, raffles, and staff participation in charity fun runs / bike rides to both raise funds and awareness.

PBPL CEO, Neil Stephens, said the impressive result was testament to the Port’s values and community spirit.

"Our team’s passion and generosity in raising $53,000 for the MND and Me Foundation is a record amount and highlights the strong sense of community within our organisation, which I’m incredibly proud of,” Mr Stephens said.

“But it’s not just a one-off. In total since 2015/16, our employees have raised over $300,000 for our employee charities.

“The initiatives across our worksites also contribute to our broader sustainability program by recycling products such as scrap metal or drink containers, helping to minimise waste to landfill.

“This total has also been bolstered by the many passengers and staff who have donated their eligible containers to the Containers for Change program at the Brisbane International Cruise Terminal, as well as all our customers and stakeholders who participated in our annual survey.

“I thank everyone for their support in getting behind this great initiative.”

The funds raised for MND and Me Foundation will enable them to continue providing vital support and services to those living with this challenging condition, and their families.
