Port of Brisbane Pty Ltd (PBPL) is continuing its support for longstanding eco-education partners Moreton Bay Environmental Education Centre (MBEEC) and EcoMarines Foundation in FY26, committing another $100,000 to further student learning.
Educating and engaging with school students is a key focus of PBPL’s Sustainability Program, helping to build awareness of the Port’s vital role in powering Queensland’s economy.
PBPL CEO Neil Stephens said the Port was proud to educate and inspire hundreds of students each year alongside its partners.
“A real highlight of our partnerships with EcoMarines Foundation and MBEEC is welcoming school groups from across south-east Queensland to Fisherman Islands,” Mr Stephens said.
“In 2024/25, more than 2,635 students learnt about how the Port of Brisbane is supporting the economy and supply chain, caring for the local environment and sustainably managing its operations.”
EcoMarines Foundation CEO Angela Massy said it’s partners like Port of Brisbane that enable the organisation to deliver meaningful impact.
“Port of Brisbane plays a pivotal role in making EcoMarines Foundation one of Queensland’s leading eco-education programs,” Ms Massy said.
“We’re encouraging students to become confident environmental leaders – bringing meaningful impact to sustainability programs at over 370 schools and 160 early learning centres.”
“Continued funding will allow us to introduce new initiatives, explore digital tools and trial high school initiatives, extending our eco-education into new regions.”
MBEEC is also helping PBPL connect with school students, with over 70 groups enjoying Port Tours in 2024/25 and gearing up for an equally busy 12 months ahead.
