Roz Perry

Roz Perry A mind for detail, a heart for family: Meet Roz, Manager Property Administration

Roz Perry doesn’t like sitting on her hands - at work or in life. She migrated to Australia two decades ago and quickly became a pillar of our PBPL community. Roz has dipped her toes in a range of areas, learning new tricks of the trade at every turn. Now, she’s settled in as our Manager Property Administration. She doesn’t relish the limelight, but takes quiet pride in her work and her team.

A MIND FOR DETAIL…

As Manager of Property Administration, Roz Perry coordinates the Property Administration team to oversee our lease administration and land tenure. Her role involves organising our lease database, preparing budgets and forecast plans, managing land valuations, and tracking revenue and expenses.

“My favourite thing about my role is the diversity of the work and the emphasis on continual growth. When I started, I wouldn’t have thought this is where I’d end up. I’ve been supported by fantastic people at the Port and always had the benefit of an amazing team who’ve been right there with me.”

While plenty of people join us from other industries and sectors, Roz already had experience of the shipping industry in the UK. Her career with PBPL began just over 18 years ago in our Finance team, where she collected and processed ship manifests and invoiced cargo-based charges. Her next role as Manager Boat Harbours facilitated her entrance into our property area.

“Managing boat harbours was completely new to me. I had a lot more external contact with the community through tenants leasing the sites - boat clubs, restaurants, community groups, and similar organisations. The locations were across the city, from Gardens Point to Scarborough.”

During the privatisation of PBPL, Roz moved into the property administration area she’s in today.

“It’s rare to have the opportunities I’ve had - I feel very lucky. These days, I’m incredibly busy - and I really enjoy the stream of work.”

Despite the pace of her role, Roz feels supported to balance her work with her personal life - something extremely important to her and her family.

… AND A HEART FOR FAMILY

Roz and her husband were searching for a change of pace when they left the UK 20 years ago. With three young children, they found the relaxed Australian lifestyle perfect for their family. Roz joined the Port less than two years after arriving in the country, and has since raised a family.

“I’ve been very blessed working here. When I started, my team were all young mums. We’ve always had flexibility in the workplace - whether that’s working from home, or whatever else is needed to balance work and life.”

There’s a place for everyone at the Port

Roz looks back fondly on her career so far with PBPL. And she’s excited about the future.

“Seriously - I couldn’t recommend the Port as an employer enough. The people who have worked here for decades are evidence that it’s a wonderful environment - it’s why they stay. I’m an example of that. I’ve been given some fantastic opportunities to try different roles, and I’m still constantly learning.”

And while there are many who have forged long careers at PBPL, there’s always room for new faces. Roz hopes everyone joining the Port feels welcomed into the supportive team.

“We’re excited to share the knowledge we’ve accumulated over the years. New people can draw on the experiences of those around them. But equally, they have the space to share their ideas. We have a diverse workforce, and there is always someone to collaborate with.”
