Rogers Transport, a multi-faceted transport provider, dealing in local, interstate and container cartage as well as 3PL warehousing, is moving to the Port of Brisbane, signing a 15-year lease for a 4.96ha site at the Port West Industrial Estate at Lytton.
The new development will include a 15,700 square metre (sqm) warehouse, 1,450sqm purpose-built workshop with fully automated truckwash, 370 sqm office space and two recessed loading docks. An area of the warehouse will accommodate drive-through vehicles and a section will be rated for dangerous goods.
As is standard in all new Port of Brisbane Pty Ltd (PBPL) developments, it will incorporate sustainable design elements including a 99kW rooftop solar system, water and energy efficient fittings, rainwater tanks for harvesting stormwater and reuse, and recycled materials in civil works.
The truckwash will have included a water recycling system from EnviroConcepts, which will reduce water use by over 90%. The extensive concrete pavements will also be constructed using Borals Envirocrete, which uses 45% less cement than conventional concrete. This will significantly reduce the carbon impact of the project.
Construction commenced in June, with completion anticipated in April 2024.
With Rogers Transport joining Port West, alongside ten other global and national businesses including Bunnings, Wallace International, Queensland Glass, Stora Enso, Team Transport & Logistics, Autocare, Steelforce, Fisher & Paykel, iOR and DNV, Stage 1 of the sought after industrial estate is now fully committed.
PBPL CEO, Neil Stephens, welcomed Rogers Transport to the Port of Brisbane community.
“Being at the Port of Brisbane means our customers receive the benefits of world-class infrastructure that helps make them more efficient, more productive businesses,” Mr Stephens said.
“The Port of Brisbane team and the Rogers transport team worked closely to ensure that this project not only meets Rogers’ requirements now but with an eye towards enabling future growth.
“This development is even more significant because it now means that Stage 1 of our 89-hectare Port West Industrial Estate is fully committed.
“Stage 2 is now in the market, and we look forward to helping more companies realise the benefits of being located right next door to one of Australia’s leading ports.”
Rogers Transport Director, Gary Rogers, said “Rogers Transport is excited to welcome in the next stage of growth, with this great opportunity to join our 3 depots into one major site. It will allow us to expand our offerings across all divisions as well as giving us a far more streamlined and efficient company. We look forward to working within the Port of Brisbane community and thank the Port of Brisbane for helping us get the project off the ground.”
The Rogers Transport development is being delivered by principal contractor, FKG, with project management by Gaskin Construction Services and architecture by SPARC.
Immediately adjacent to Port West Stage One, the second stage of the industrial estate is being progressively developed to meet market demand.
