Brisbane’s 2024-25 cruise season has started strongly at the Brisbane International Cruise Terminal during the first weeks of October, including multiple calls from the Pacific Encounter and a maiden call from the luxury private residential yacht, The World, which departed on 4 October.
PBPL CEO, Neil Stephens, said the 2024-25 season was shaping up to be one of its most exciting yet.
“This season, we’re currently expecting over 150 cruise calls from 13 cruise lines, taking locals and visitors to the Sunshine State to destinations along the Queensland coast and to South Pacific destinations,” said Mr Stephens.
“Over the next 12 months, we’re looking forward to welcoming nine maiden callers, many of these being ‘expedition-like’ vessels, as well as returning friends including P&O, Carnival Cruise Line, Cunard, Royal Caribbean International and Disney.
“During the quieter winter months, we’ve continued to invest in our world-class cruise terminal, making the experience even better for passengers.
“We’ve significantly expanded onsite car parking, added shading to more outdoor seating areas and increased the capacity of our taxi rank.
“We also worked with renowned First Nations artist, Delvene Cockatoo-Collins, to create a stunning artwork, From Land to Sea, that spans the 660m length of our car parks for passengers to enjoy.
“During last season, we celebrated our 300th caller and marked 1.5 million passenger movements through the facility. We’re looking forward to celebrating more milestones again this season.
“With every cruise ship call contributing almost $1 million to the Queensland economy, cruising from Brisbane is continuing to bring a welcome economic boost to the Sunshine State.
“Of course, none of this would be possible without our cruise customers and partners plus their wonderful staff who help provide a seamless experience for passengers. We’re looking forward to another successful season together.”
