weed surveys
Many of the weed species found on Port of Brisbane land are widespread in Brisbane and South-east Queensland. These weeds are typically associated with site disturbance or in habitats directly adjacent to disturbance. The weed species identified at the port are low-risk species and are managed to reduce further spread.
Since 2001, Port of Brisbane has conducted annual weed monitoring surveys to identify the introduction and spread of priority weed species on port land. Surveys are conducted by an environmental scientist.
LATEST RESEARCH (AT A GLANCE)
The most recent weed survey was conducted in 2021.
Results show no new weed species or sites of significant weed invasion detected at the monitored sites. Regular monitoring has indicated that weeds recorded at the Port are widespread in south-east Queensland.
