Port Stakeholders,
There continues to be no reports of serious storm damage or severe weather impacts on port infrastructure. Access to the port’s landside facilities is unhindered.
Today the Regional Harbour Master has shifted status from ‘Red’ to ‘Yellow’, allowing some movements to be undertaken within the channel area.
In the interests of passenger safety, Maritime Safety Queensland and the Port of Brisbane are facilitating the calls of two cruise vessels today and tomorrow, following PBPL survey crews being out checking the river and berths today.
Following that, certain freight vessel movements will be undertaken under the direction of the Regional Harbour Master. These vessel movements will be conducted under the strictest of safety protocols.
While the severe weather system continues to impact the region, the Port of Brisbane’s Marine and Operations Teams are working closely with Maritime Safety Queensland to understand the risks and consider how they could impact the port.
While safety remains paramount, all possible efforts are going towards getting the port’s shipping channel back to full operation when it’s appropriate to do so.
SAFETY REMINDER: with the region expected to receive very large volumes of rainfall over the coming days, adding to the already large volumes of surface water on roads, we implore all port stakeholders to stay off the road if possible. If vehicle movements are required, please use extra caution over the days ahead. Drive to the conditions and reduce speed.
Kind regards
PBPL Team
