TC Alfred update - Friday, 7 March 2025 1600hrs

Port Stakeholders

There has been no change to the port’s operational posture overnight.

The shipping channel remains restricted, under direction from Maritime Safety Queensland’s (MSQ) Regional Harbour Master. Access to the Port’s landside precincts is unchanged.

From a cruise perspective, all cruise calls are under consideration by MSQ and the cruise lines.

At this stage, some areas have only experienced light winds and rain. Please do not be complacent - the next 24 hours could result in significant severe weather impacts across the region.

SAFETY REMINDER: it is important to again ensure all Port tenants and businesses carry out their own severe weather preparation processes, including tying down any equipment or plant, securing all cargoes and reducing container stacks where possible. All Port tenants/businesses are advised to implement their own severe weather preparedness plans, adhere to State and Local Government/Emergency Management directions, and make decisions regarding their own operations.

SAFETY REMINDER: for any vehicle movements, please use extra caution over the days ahead. Drive to the conditions and reduce speed.

We can also assure stakeholders that while our focus remains on preparedness and
immediate response, we are also considering possible actions that could ensure the port is safely operational again as soon as possible once the weather system passes.

Kind regards
PBPL Team
