Magnetometer surveys are a type of geophysical survey. They work on the premise that the world has a relatively static magnetic field and any introduced feature or objects interrupt the magnetic field. Magnetometers measure these irregularities to enable the size and location of these features to be determined. The team have carried out extensive magnetic surveys to detect objects such as wrecks, anchors, buried pipelines and geological features. A shore base station is operated by the team to enhance magnetic detection capabilities.
