Logistics company Owens Transport, a division of Mainfreight, has recently moved its team of 45 to a newly constructed facility on Howard Smith Drive at Port of Brisbane’s Port Gate Estate.
The new 1.7 hectare site features 10,000 square metres of storage and distribution yard, which is designed for container storage and handling areas with 100 tonne container load capacities. The facility also comprises of 450 square metres of office space and a 1,500 square metres of warehouse with awnings of more than 600 square metres.
“One of the reasons for choosing the Howard Smith Drive site is its proximity to the wharves and direct connectivity to Port of Brisbane motorway,” said Brisbane Branch Manager Paul Bellamy.
“Plus it is also approved for super B-Double vehicle access with a maximum load limit of 109 tonnes,” he added further.
Owens operates a full service depot at the Port of Brisbane. Their wharf cartage services include shipping containers, break bulk and loose cartage to and from the wharf. In addition, they also offer container consolidation and deconsolidation services and a wide range of warehouse storage capabilities for containerised to palletised freight, project and bulk products.
