Continued success for our Environment Team

Port of Brisbane’s Offsite Storm water Treatment Pilot Project has received its fourth industry award, winning the Environmental Transport category for the Lloyd’s List Australia Shipping and Maritime Industry Awards.

The pilot project involved rehabilitating 950m of degraded creek bank along the Laidley River in the Lockyer Valley to tackle sediment pollution at its source. In its first year, it has prevented 4800 tonnes of sediment from entering the Brisbane River and Moreton Bay, and will do so annually.

PBPL has committed $1 million over three years to fund the project and is working with a range of government, industry and environmental partners to deliver it, including Healthy Waterways and Catchments and Mulgowie Farming Company.
