Transport

Sea, road and rail transport modes all operate at the Port of Brisbane to ensure that goods, which are either imported or exported, reach their final destination.

A number of different machines, including container cranes, are used to take cargo off ships and put it onto trucks. These trucks then take the cargo to a rail terminal, or they continue by road to its final destination. In the same manner, trucks and trains are used to bring cargo to the port, and machines are used to load the cargo onto ships. The Port of Brisbane has its own rail intermodal terminal, called the Brisbane Multimodal Terminal (BMT). Through the BMT, Queensland Rail and Pacific National run interstate and intrastate freight services. Trucking companies come to the Port of Brisbane and transport goods to destinations all around Australia.
