Trade
One of our major roles is to facilitate trade, and a large number of commodities are traded through the port, including oil, coal, cement, iron and steel, cereals, meat products, building products, silica sand, timber, paper and wood pulp. We trade primarily with countries like China, Europe, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and the United States of America. In the 2003/2004 financial year, over 25 million tonnes of cargo passed through the port.
