Port Facilities
The hub of the port’s activities is Fisherman Islands, comprising 655 hectares of land at the mouth of the Brisbane River. Fisherman Islands is the only purpose-built, capital-city, intermodal port complex in Australia, with eight deep-water container berths, three deep-water bulk berths, and 19 bulk and general cargo berths upriver. The Brisbane Multimodal Terminal (BMT) provides a rail service to the wharves on Fisherman Islands, linking the port by rail to Queensland's regional centres and other Australian capital cities. Specialised facilities at the port handle commodities like oil, grain, woodchip, cottonseed, clinker, coal, chemicals and fertilisers, and sugar.
