Landside Logistics Forum
The Landside Logistics Forum (LLF) was formed in 2003 to improve Port-wide landside logistics efficiencies, to facilitate the discussion of landside issues, and to improve communication among Port stakeholders. Members of the forum include key landside port landside logistics service providers, the Australian Customs Service, the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service, the Customs Brokers and Forwarders Council of Australia, and the Queensland Trucking Association. The Forum meets bi-monthly.
“Managing the Wharf Supply Chain”
One of the initiatives of the LLF in 2005 was to develop an information sheet “Managing the Wharf Supply Chain” which provided tips for importers to facilitate the collection of import containers from the stevedores within the free storage period.
Recently, a more comprehensive guide was developed for importers, exporters and other parties in the supply chain. The Guide suggests a number of measures to all parties to improve their efficiencies and reduce delays, congestion and unnecessary costs.
The document “A Guide to Maximising Efficiencies in the Sea Freight Container Supply Chain” is the culmination of extensive consultation with all parties in the sea freight supply chain, and draws extensively on the work carried out by the Victorian Freight and Logistics Council for the Business Activity Harmonisation Study (BAHS).
Comments on the Guide are most welcome, please email them to Andrew.Rankine@portbris.com.au.
