Scarborough harbour improvements on track for new year

22 December 2003

Port of Brisbane Corporation, Chief Executive Officer, Jeff Coleman, said today that the remainder of the improvements to the public amenity at the Scarborough Boat Harbour were on track to be completed by March 2004.

The improvements include the provision of two table-and-seating shelters on the southern side of the harbour entrance, which are due to be completed by March 2004. Mr Coleman said that the Corporation had recently placed bollards around the area where the shelters will be erected to prevent vehicular access.

“We have also provided seating and turfed the area around the shelters, and upgraded the public conveniences.

“An ambulance bay will also be provided next the Coastguard,” said Mr Coleman.

Improved facilities for the boating community will include a queuing pontoon at the northern boat ramp. The pontoon will be funded and installed by Queensland Transport, and operational by the third quarter of 2004.

Other improvements recently carried out by the Corporation at the harbour include the installation of handrails around the public jetty and new fender piles.

Repairs to the rock wall will also be done during 2004.
