The Port of Brisbane Corporation will present a dynamic line up of key industry speakers at its ‘Source to Sea’ domestic seminar at Beef Australia 2003.

Moderated by Ian Paterson, from the Port of Brisbane Corporation, the session will provide a practical overview of current and future export opportunities for Australian beef and beef by-products, such as offal, tallow, meat and bonemeal and hides.

With Japan, Korea and the US representing the three major destinations for Australian beef exports, North Asia Manager with Australia Meat Holdings, Darrel France, will outline the challenges and opportunities in these key overseas markets.

Senior Sales and Marketing Manager with Kilcoy Pastoral Company, Andrew Simpson will look at the opportunities for beef offal and Paul Stenzel from the Australian Renderers Association will present an overview of the tallow, meat and bonemeal markets.

The ‘Source to Sea’ domestic seminar will also explore the future market outlook for Australian cattle hides with a representative from leading processor, AI Topper & Co, looking at ‘taking the farm to the world of fashion’.

Port of Brisbane Corporation’s Chief Executive Officer, Jeff Coleman, said the corporation was pleased to be involved with such an event.

“The port handles 50% of Australia’s beef exports, and we feel it’s important to bring together key industry players with hands on experience from right across the beef supply chain to look for opportunities to grow and expand Australia’s trade in quality beef and beef by-products,” he said.

The ‘Source to Sea’ seminar will be held at the Rockhampton State High School Performing Arts Complex on Monday 28 April, 1-4pm. Visitors to Beef Australia 2003 can choose from a large range of seminar topics throughout the week, with session details posted on the website at www.beefaustralia.org.
