Port of Brisbane - Here for the future

Environment

The Port of Brisbane is located at the mouth of the Brisbane River and adjacent to the Moreton Bay Marine Park, an area of high ecological and conservation value.

Port of Brisbane Pty Ltd (PBPL) aims to limit the port’s impact on the surrounding environment by ensuring environmental management is key component of our operational and commercial development strategy.

We undertake a wide range of monitoring and management programs to measure and track our environment performance and to ensure that potential environmental impacts are minimised.

Environmental Management System

PBPL operates under an Environmental Management System (EMS) certified to the recognised international standard of ISO 14001 Environmental Management System

Our EMS enables us to identify and classify those activities undertaken by PBPL which could impact on the environment, such as dredging, project development and management of contractors, assess these for potential environmental risk, and implement management controls or actions to prevent or minimise environmental impact.

Our Environment Policy states our intentions for achieving environmental performance and advocating environmental responsibility for our employees and their activities.
