The Port of Brisbane is located at the mouth of the Brisbane River and adjacent to the Moreton Bay Marine Park, an area of high ecological and conservation value.
This environment includes:
- over 150 hectares of mangroves, which provide a feeding habitat for a variety of fish and crustaceans
- extensive inter-tidal flats, which provide a feeding habitat for resident and migratory shorebirds
- seagrass areas which are among the largest in the western Moreton Bay region.
The port is also located in close proximity to several RAMSAR protected areas.
We undertake a wide range of monitoring programs to measure and track our environmental performance and to ensure that potential environmental impacts are minimised.
PBC aims to limit the port’s impact on the surrounding environment by ensuring environmental management is key component of our operational and commercial development strategy.
