Port of Brisbane Corporation - Environmental Review: Manly Boat Harbour
February 2000
Hyder Envrionmental
Hyder Environmental was commissioned to undertake an environmental review of Manly Boat Harbour, as part of reporting requirements to Queensland Transport and the annual Corporation auditing process. The review provides an assessment of the environmental performance of each site at the Boat Harbour in terms of legislative compliance (especially in relation to ERAs) and meeting accepted codes of environmental practice.
The six sites reviewed within Manly Boat Harbour were: RQYS; East Coast Marina; Wynnum Manly Yacht Club; Moreton Bay Trailer Boat Club; Australian Volunteers Coast Guard and WM Gunn Jetty. The methodology for the review included desktop analyses, field audits, review of legislation relevant to the Harbour, risk assessment and action plan development.
The major finding of the review was that the environmental performance at Manly Boat Harbour is very good, especially in relation to management approaches and operational procedures (ie waste management and wastewater treatment and reuse). The review found that operators on-site have taken initiative with environmental management and this reflected in the excellent performance of their operations.
