Gerry Johnstone

General Manager Port Development

Gerry is responsible for the planning, construction and maintenance of port facilities and infrastructure, and dredging and reclamation activities.

Gerry has wide ranging experience in port operations, development and industrial relations. He joined the port in 1992, transferring from New South Wales as Queensland Manager of the Association of Employers of Waterside Labour (AEWL) in 1987.

He has postgraduate qualifications in Management obtained at the Queensland University of Technology in 1993.

Bill Tranberg

Senior Manager Infrastructure Planning & Chief Engineer

Bill takes a leading role in the planning and delivery of new engineering projects and the maintenance of existing ones.

With close to 25 years’ experience and knowledge of the port’s progress in the engineering projects and facilities areas, Bill was the leading member of the strategic planning team that produced the Corporation’s second strategic plan, Key Port Brisbane - Strategic Plan to 2005 and Beyond in 1992. Since that time Bill has continued his close involvement with the engineering aspects associated with the strategic planning of the port. Bill’s primary qualifications are in engineering, having gained a Bachelor of Engineering degree, followed by postgraduate studies culminating in the award of a PhD in 1976. He has also has a Graduate Diploma of Business Management.

Peter Nella
Peter Nella

Senior Manager Dredging and Channels

Peter is responsible for the planning and management of the reclamation activities as well as the dredging and surveying needs of the Corporation. His main objectives are to maintain navigable access to and within the port, and to optimise the operational use of the Corporation’s dredgers and floating plant. This area of responsibility encompasses dredging contracts with external clients, including Queensland port authorities.

Peter has extensive experience and knowledge of the dredging industry, as well as the infrastructure of the port, having joined the Corporation in 1982 in the Engineering Projects section. He has a degree in Civil Engineering and is a Member of the Institute of Engineers, Aust, and a Registered Professional Engineer.

Arie Geelheod
Arie Geelhoed

Senior Manager Reclamation and Land Development

Arie is repsonsible for the planning and management of reclamation and land development works in the port expansion area.

He has more than 25 years experience in the dredging and reclamation fields, and has also had a seagoing career. Arie joined the Corporation in 1988 and during this time has been involved in the building and maintenance of dredging equipment and management of reclamation processes.

Arie is a Class 1 Marine Engineer and a Fellow of the Institute of Marine Engineers, Science and Technology (London).

 

Gary Bendell
Gary Bendell

Manager Engineering and Construction

Gary is responsible for the management and implementation of the Corporation’s Capital Works Programme. In this role, Gary is also responsible for the management of the engineering and drafting sections of the Port Development Division, to successfully project-manage the design and construction of the port’s new facilities.

Gary joined the Corporation in 1995 as a Project Engineer, and has some 15 years experience in the design and construction of marine and port facilities. He has a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) with First Class Honours, is a Member of The Institution of Engineers Australia, is a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland and is Registered on the National Professional Engineers Register.
