Port Surveys

The Port Surveys team have responsibilities to maintain safe navigation of shipping channels and berths that fall under its jurisdiction within the Port of Brisbane. Servicing key port stakeholders requires survey from the Northern tip of Bribie Island through Moreton Bay and into the Brisbane River upstream to the Hamilton Wharf precinct. In addition to this, Port Surveys undertake external contract hydrographic work for infrastructure companies, port authorities and local government authorities, providing clients with ping to chart solutions.

The Port Surveys team consists of 8 Hydrographic Surveyors, experienced in a variety of disciplines, which provides a wealth of knowledge covering a wide range of hydrographic solutions. Our team includes both Certified Professionals in Hydrographic Surveying (Level 1) and IHO-FIG-ICA Category 'A' accredited Hydrographers. Customers can have peace of mind that all work undertaken in accordance with government strict criterion “Standards for Hydrographic Surveys within Queensland Waters” or other Australian States Regulatory Standards. We also adhere to all standards, guidelines and best practises provided by the International Hydrographic Organisation (IHO) which regulates 80 member countries, including Australia.

Ports Surveys operates the latest multibeam sonar technology coupled with precise inertial navigation, GPS positioning systems, and data acquisition software, achieving high accuracy surveys of IHO standard. Multibeam sonar technology provides the ultimate confidence in seafloor mapping, with up to 128 degrees of swath coverage and a ping rate of 50hz, the multibeam sonar can offer increased detail of the seafloor collecting on average 100,000 data points every 5 seconds delivering higher density surveys (100% coverage) and higher quality data images in tighter time frames.

Presentation of data can be a provided in many formats ranging from digital datasets, 2d / 3d charts, drapped mapping and imagery through to 3d movie fly throughs. Supply of data can be through physical hardcopies to digital outputs in a variety of formats to suit the clients needs.
 

 

Port of Brisbane is at maritime security level 1
