Arrival of Newlead Venetico at Port of Brisbane

Under direction from federal government agency Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) and state government agency Maritime Safety Queensland (MSQ), the Port of Brisbane Pty Ltd (PBPL) has been ordered to provide ‘port of refuge’ to the bulk carrier Newlead Venetico. The vessel arrived at anchorage in Moreton Bay on Saturday 28 January.

PBPL is currently investigating the possibility of providing a workable berth solution to eventually allow repairs to be made to the vessel. There are a number of complex issues to be resolved, and PBPL’s priority is to provide a safe berth option if possible and ensure minimal disruption to port business/operations.

Further detail will be provided to stakeholders if and when a workable solution has been agreed on by all parties involved.

Further enquiries should be directed to AMSA on 1300 624 633
