SAL Ball 2011

The Queensland shipping industry helped raise over $10,000 for the Queensland Maritime Museum at the 20th Anniversary Shipping Australia Limited (SAL) Ball on Saturday 7 October 2011.

The annual event, this year held at Moda Events, Portside Wharf, was attended by over 300 industry representatives and their partners.

Each year, the SAL Ball sponsors a shipping-related project, and this year money was raised to support the Queensland Maritime Museum in their post-flood recovery efforts.

The museum’s Carpentaria Light Ship, on display in the museum dry dock, was severely damaged in the floods, and with the money raised from the night, along with the proceeds from the SAL Golf Day, the Queensland shipping industry will contribute over $10,000 towards its repair.

Shipping Australia Secretary, Bill Guest thanked the ball attendees and sponsors for their support and praised the efforts of the SAL committee for organising a fantastic night enjoyed by all.

Guests enjoyed a night of great food and dancing, and raised money for the Queensland Maritime Museum.
