Mutual Aid Group helps improve port emergency procedures

The Port of Brisbane’s Mutual Aid Group (MAG) is working to improve port emergency procedures through live exercises and scenario workshops.

The group, consisting of PBPL representatives, port tenants, and lead agencies including the Queensland Police Service, Queensland Fire and Rescue Service, Queensland Ambulance Service and Maritime Safety Queensland, meets four times per year to share knowledge, build relationships and practice emergency procedures.

PBPL recently hosted a live emergency demonstration exercise in partnership with Caltex at the port's General Purpose Berth.

This exercise gave Caltex the opportunity to practice its current emergency procedures, and receive guidance from the lead agencies to make any necessary improvements to their processes.

To find out more about the MAG, contact PBPL Port Operations Officer, Terrie Litzow on 3258 4967.
