The Port of Brisbane Corporation (PBC) is proud to support a range of sponsorship initiatives including the following not-for-profit and charity programs:
Blue Care
The Wynnum Manly area has seen a significant growth in the number of people who require care in recent years. As a result, the Wellness Program was established to carry out health assessments by Registered Nurses for people living in the local community.
The Wellness Program provides education and health resources including blood pressure tests, assistance with medication management and advice on prevention of falls.
In addition to the funding for the Wellness Program, PBC has sponsored a BlueCare vehicle for the local Blue Care community care facility; this provides BlueCare staff with the means to care for people in their homes in Brisbane’s eastside region.
Literacy Program Wynnum North State High School
PBC sponsored Literacy Program, is in its fourth year at Wynnum North State High School. The program aims to help junior school students increase their reading, writing and comprehension skills across all subjects.
Seagrass & Mangrove Watch
PBC continues its close association with environmental groups and initiatives including the Queensland Wildlife Preservation Society’s Seagrass Watch and Mangrove Watch.
Seagrass Watch monitors the density and types of seagrass found in Moreton Bay. Mangrove Watch was launched in March 2009, and will monitor the condition of the mangroves in Moreton Bay.
Staff volunteer on a regular basis to assist with the monitoring and recording of this vital information.
Queensland Maritime Museum
The Queensland Maritime Museum (QMM) was founded in 1971 and is run by a self-funded voluntary Association. PBC supports QMM in many ways including support to restore and exhibit maritime projects.
